1. Construct level is a common descriptor. Six categories (assessment, instructional strategies/methods, bias, community-family-school, creating a learning environment, teacher-student expectancies) are based on clustering of the learning objectives identified by the multicultural/diversity taskforce.

2. Content area is a descriptor of item topic

3. Multicultural/Diversity Content Test is a 60 item multiple-choice test for teacher education majors. The first number listed refers to the item number on the 60 item version. Information in parentheses refers to research codes. Italicized information refer to where the item appears on the spilt form version (i.e., Form A and Form B) of the MCCT (e.g., A27 means the item is the 27th item on Form A).

4. G. Pritchy Smith (1998). Common Sense About Uncommon Knowledge: The Knowledge bases for Diversity. American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. Reference numbers refer to Smith’s appendix numbers (See attachement A).

5. Focus groups of university faculty, administrators, & public school teachers convened in Sprint 1998 to discuss what essential multicultural/diversity knowledge graduating student-teachers need to possess by the time they graduate with regard to: assessment (ASSESS), instructional strategies/methods (ISM), teacher bias in the classroom (BIAS), family-school relationships (FAM), community-classroom relationships (COM), creating a learning environment (CLE) and teacher student expectations (TSE)." Verbatim lists of group input are available upon request. Reference numbers refer to specific comment list numbers.

6. A Multicultural/Diversity Task Force Committee convened to develop a list of program outcomes in teacher education. The list of outcomes is provided in Attachment B. Reference numbers refer to objective list numbers.

7. A faculty survey (KBDQ) was constructed based on the sources listed in endnotes 3, 4 & 5 listed above. Reference numbers refer to item numbers on the KBDQ. Numbers in parentheses refer to the percent of faculty (n=60) who indicated they covered this topic in their courses. An "*" indicates that the item area was ranked in the top 10 (of 31) areas identified by faculty as "priority" content areas. A copy of the KBDQ is available upon request.
