Description of University

The teacher preparation program enrollment demographics include: 2% African-American, 9% Asian/Pacific Islander, 12% Hispanic, 70% White, 6% missing/other.  Approximately 92% of the population is female. Most students (70%) were residents of Chicago.  About 2% came from the suburbs and 18% from downstate.

Description Project Activities

Loyola has built strong partnerships with the Illinois Professional Learners’ Partnership, LAS, the Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Archdiocese, and the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs  (GEAR-UP) project.  Loyola’s changes in the teacher preparation program have involved school personnel and teachers as members of the curriculum planning committee.  Loyola’s assessment plan and partnerships are well integrated into their program.
