Description of University

SRU enrollment consists of 3.2% African Americans, .4% Asian Americans, .6% Latino Americans, 3.3% International students, .2% Native Americans, 2.4% Unknown, and 89.9% European Americans. Currently, SRU has an urban student teaching program.  They have 2,186 Education majors.

Description Project Activities

SRU formed a committee that represented the 5 departments within their COE.  The Institutional Coordinator meets with this group regularly to develop MCD assessment and evaluation activities for each department.  Curriculum and experiences at SRU include five elements to increase candidate experience and exposure to diverse environments (overcoming inequitable school resources, understanding the influence of culture on personal growth and respecting cultural differences, utilizing methods of integrating multicultural concepts in curriculum, and making responsible use of assessment, measurement, and evaluation techniques).  Their major goals for Year 2 included strengthening systematic data collection procedures on all education majors background knowledge and experiences with divese student populations.
